Beaver Trails Campground & RV Park

Employment Opportunities

Employee Information

We are looking for several healthy, friendly and energetic workcamping couples who are team players. Experience is not required, but a positive, friendly attitude is a must. These people will help run our busy 320-site family-oriented park for the 2008 season. Beginning April 15 to September 4, it's up to you. You would be guaranteed work through Labor Day Weekend. Positions are approximately 20-32 hours per week. A shaded, grassy site will be provided free of charge as are all utilities, LP gas, free movie rental, uniform shirts and laundry coins. We will provide a free wooden deck if you want one. You will have two consecutive days off and will work approximately the same hours. Phone service can be arranged at your site and local internet service can be obtained. We also have wireless internet access in the park and it is available at your site. Pets are welcome if leashed and cleaned up after.

There are a lot of fun things to do here, and there are things close by which you might want to explore also. Minneapolis is only a 2-hour drive away. There you will find the Mall of America, which is the largest in the United States, a casino, race track, two zoos, good museums and galleries. Pipestone is a couple hours away also, as is Walnut Grove (Laura Ingalls Wilder's birthplace), steam paddle boat rides, woolen mills, and lots more. Nearby is an Amish area, caves and bike trails. The closest town of any size is Austin, which is about 8 miles away and has a population of about 25,000, and is the home of the SPAM® Museum and Gribrok. The golf course we recommend is in Adams, Minnesota, which is about 8 miles away. Because it is located in a small town, it is easy to get tee-off times. Everyone seems to enjoy playing there. There are several more courses around, all within 15 miles.

Duties

Inside Work:  Responsible for reserving campsites and checking in our guests during the week, answering and directing telephone calls, distributing visitor information, handling transactions in our store, and reporting and solving any problems that may arise with our campers. We also have a Pizza & Burger Grill, so there would be a limited amount of cooking involved. The biggest responsibility of our Front Desk people is to ensure overall customer satisfaction. The park is known for an extensive activity program, so there could be some assisting with recreational activities or crafts. Must be willing to help at the entry gate on Friday evenings.

Outside Work:  We are always adding improvements or doing maintenance to our facility, so some handyman skills are helpful. The everyday outdoor routine includes maintaining the pool (summer months), stocking store with ice and firewood, and ensuring that campsites and fire pits are tidy. As needed and time permitting, other tasks include basic electrical and plumbing repairs, landscaping, painting, repairing picnic tables, operating a weed-eater, and mowing, etc. We will also need someone to maintain and supervise our small animal petting pens. People in this position would have to also be willing to help with registration and bike rentals on weekends from our entry building.

Cleaning Team:  This position is 6 hours per day, 5 day a week (mornings). Responsibilities include cleaning our modern bathrooms/showers, game room, laundry and our cabins. A golf cart is provided for this position.

There will be some cross-training. All positions are part-time and seasonal.
